September 2008

The summer seemed to fly by for us.  Now that September is upon us we are busy again.  Renee started preschool and seems to really enjoy it.  She is the kind of girl that I think believes she is ready for elementary school already. :)  Emily is enjoying some one-on-one time while Renee is at school.  She is also walking.  She loves the new found freedom.

September also brought another school year for me.  I am a mentor teacher for students with IEPs and that are on a behavior contract.  Currently I have one student but can have up to 10 at one time.  I am enjoying the change, but am also little nervous as well because it is a new job.

Also, we adopted a new kitten about 2 months ago.  A friend of a friend found her and wasn’t able to keep her due to her son’s allegies.  We were a little nervous taking in another animal but she has worked out great.  She came to use litterbox trained and with no fleas or ear mites.   She gets along well with our dog, Casey.  In fact, Casey loves spending time with her.  The other two cats, Noah and Sarah, aren’t too fond of her.  With the help of Renee we decided to name her Belle.  Which means beautiful and is also one of Renee’s favorite princesses. :)

Almost A Year

I can’t believe that Emily is already 11 months old. Time certainly flies by. We have enjoyed watching her grow and develop her personality these past 11 months. We have noticed that she loves to laugh whether at herself or someone/something else. She lalso ikes to move. She always seems like she is on the go. :) In addition, she loves water and likes to splash herself. She would like to walk but hasn’t figured it out yet.:) When she does, watch out!! :)

Potty Training

Over the past month Renee has finally taken off with the potty training.  She will tell us when she needs to go.  She is doing a great job and we are really proud of her.  As a reward for her hard work I painted her fingernails.  She thought that was awesome. :)  When we first started the potty training it was before her 2nd birthday.  We tried stickers as rewards but she wasn’t interested.  What works now are m&m’s.  She loves them. :)

What drives you?

What motivates you to get things done?  What do you do to motivate yourself?  Sometimes I will use food, tv, trips to the park.  There are others but I can’t think of them right now.  :)  Anyways, I was thinking that when I was in high school and especially in college I had trouble getting motivated to get papers done and projects started.  I was thinking that as the new year is here I should try to work on getting some things done that I have been putting off.

The Errand Run

Posted: December 12, 2007 at 9:39 pm by Debbie

Since the holiday season is approaching quickly I was looking forward to using part of Tuesday to run some errands that involved going to Target.  I  took the girls with me and thought I was well prepared but quickly found out I was wrong.  For all those parents out there who have had your child have a temper tantrum in a store you will be able to sympathize with me.   Renee ended up having one.  It was one of those times where I really wanted to get some things done but ended up having to deal with Renee’s tantrum instead.  I still don’t know what caused it but I am so glad it is over.  At the time when she was having the temper tantrum it felt like all eyes were on me and how I was handling the situation.  When we were leaving the store in my mind I thought I would never go back there, but I realized later how silly a thought that was. :)  Next time I will come better prepared and will leave the cart and take the kiddos to the car if the situation arises again.  Actually I should say when it happens again I will just leave the store.  Hopefully it won’t happen too soon. :)
